Summary


At Cars.com, we're looking for someone to help take us forward in multimedia. We're looking for a professional for our Editorial team who knows how to handle photos, videos and other multimedia content that will help consumers find the right car for them. Cars.com is a top-tier destination for automobile shoppers, researchers and sellers. The Assistant Multimedia Producer will work with the Multimedia Producer to develop new content and produce this content under the direction of the Managing Editor. In addition, this producer will undertake other writing, editing and Internet strategy/production duties as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Editing photos and video for www.cars.com, including vehicle reviews, photo galleries, auto shows, buying guides, and wire services.
Managing the cars.com photo management system.
Acquiring and maintaining images for the car.com image library.
Maintain a level of journalistic standards and ethics in keeping with our newspaper heritage;
Be a key steward and champion of the cars.com brand;
Help other cars.com staffers understand how to use video as a means to reach new audiences and better serve our existing audience;
Help train other cars.com staffers on how to plan, shoot and edit photos and video.

Experience/Education

Extensive, demonstrable editorial experience with multimedia production, including shooting (both photos and video), editing and production skills; consumer-focused or automotive journalism preferred (preferably some online work); Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related discipline required. Must show proof of work with necessary software. Portfolio of clips (both still and video) required.

Necessary Skills, Abilities and other Qualities

Must be able to work in a highly collaborative team environment, where ideas and brainstorming are highly valued;
Must be able to help train others on staff on issues involving video production;
Mastery of software to produce publication-quality photos and broadcast-quality video;
Demonstrated ability to shoot quality video and photographs;
Must be PC and Mac literate;
Must be able to travel when required, carry heavy equipment when necessary, and take quality video and still photos both inside and outside of cars;
Mastery of internet publishing tools;
Mastery of written and verbal English-language communications;
Uncommon dedication to the craft of online journalism and a "Whatever it takes" attitude;

Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality;
