Typographic Design is the study of of communication design through the structured and expressive use of letters, words, and texts. This course covers the history and aesthetics of typographic form and communication through the design of posters, book covers, magazine pages. It puts emphasis on fundamental and advanced typographic skills, including hyphenation, justification, pagination and typographic hierarchy. These skills are applied to print as well as web design. It also explores the expressive realm of typographic communication, at one point transcribing spoken language into print, while preserving the inflection and voice of the speaker.
